Shepherd Hires Technical Professional to Increase its Development Staff

Shepherd Chemical is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Nathan Eckert to its technical staff. Dr. Eckert has most recently been involved with postdoctoral work at the University of Delaware in Professor Charlie Riordan’s research group.  Prior to that, Dr. Eckert obtained his PhD with Prof Pat Holland at the University of Rochester. With his organometallic synthesis background, Dr. Eckert will support Shepherd Chemical’s efforts in the area of development of advanced Carboxylates. Shepherd Chemical’s research efforts in this area include the customization of metal carboxylates for specific uses, the development of new compounds for existing applications, and the characterization of current and new products.  Shepherd Chemical has been developing and manufacturing metal carboxylates for over 90 years and is a leader in many of the markets which utilize this important class of compounds.

Shepherd Chemical’s Chief Technical Officer, Dr. Jeff Sullivan, notes that Dr. Eckert’s skill and enthusiasm will compliment Shepherd’s R&D team.  The Shepherd Chemical R&D group is responsible for addressing customers’ new product requests, optimizing current processes, and developing next generation technology platforms.  These efforts are equally important as Shepherd strives to become a leading metal organics company which provides its customers with customized solutions to their chemical needs.

Dr. Eckert will be accompanying Shepherd personnel on customer visits and to trade shows as part of the company’s philosophy of establishing valuable technical relationships.
