 Cadmium is a soft, ductile, silver white metal having a distorted hexagonal close packed structure. Cadmium is recovered as a byproduct of primarily Zinc ores.
Cadmium is utilized in batteries and pigments. Owing to its toxicity, alternatives to the products which utilize cadmium have been or are under development.
