Chromium
|
Chromium is a blue-white metal that is hard, brittle, and very corrosion resistant. Chromium is generally mined as Chromite Ore and processed to Ferrochrome for steel making or chromium chemicals for a range of industrial uses.
Chromium lends itself to a variety of colors and appearances which make it suitable for specific applications. Its shine is used to enhance other metals in plating applications or in aluminum anodizing. Chromium oxide is used for its green tint as a metal polish and lead chromate has been widely used as a yellow pigment. As a catalyst component, chromium compounds are well known for use in polyolefin manufacture as well as crosslinking catalysts in adhesive formulations.
Shepherd manufactures both organic and inorganic forms of chromium compounds. This capability makes Shepherd one of the leading suppliers of this compound into chemical applications. |
