Lead

Lead is a soft metal with a blueish-gray tint. Lead is found in its metallic form in nature, but is normally mined in mineral forms such as galena (PbS), anglesite (PbSO4), and cerussite (PbCO3). Lead is extracted in conjunction with Zinc, Silver, and Copper.

Consumer uses of lead such as pigments are declining owing to its well documented toxicity. Industrial uses continue to grow, lead is a main constituent in automotive batteries, and it continues to be used in glass and crystal manufacture.
