Nickel
|
Nickel is a silvery metal with a gold hue. Two types of nickel ore are mined to produce most of the worlds nickel – sulfide and lateritic. One of the largest nickel reserves, found in Ontario Canada, is believed to be caused by a meteorite impact early in the earth’s history. The second significant source of the metal is Siberia, Russia.
The most significant use of nickel in the world is in the manufacture of stainless steels. Important chemical uses include catalysts for hydrogenation and electroplating. Various battery technologies rely on inorganic forms of nickel for their cathode materials.
Shepherd manufactures both inorganic and organic forms of this metal for a variety of applications. |
