Zirconium
|
Zirconium is a shinny metallic ductile metal which is found in at least 37 different mineral forms. The predominant forms which are mined include zircon(ZrSiO4) and zirconium orthosilicate.
Zirconium is a corrosion resistant metal that is used in high performance pumps and valves. Since it also does not easily absorb neutrons, zirconium is widely used in nuclear reactors. The nuclear power industry uses nearly 90% of the zirconium produced each year. Zirconium compounds are used as catalysts for the Friedel-Crafts reaction as well as zirconecenes which are used in polymerization reactions.
Shepherd manufactures organic and inorganic forms of zirconium; we have the capability to customize these compounds based on our customers needs. |
