Metal chemistries across Oil and Gas Operations
Shepherd’s Oil and Gas portfolio includes metal based solutions that map to specific needs across operations, from sulfur control to lubricant performance and catalyst preparation for refining and fuel upgrading. For H2S mitigation in hydrocarbon streams, Zinc Octoate, 22% Zn is positioned as a zinc carboxylate that reacts with hydrogen sulfide.
For equipment protection, bismuth carboxylate lubricant additives like BiLUBE® 8109 are extreme pressure and anti-wear additives in oils and greases, supporting protection of moving metal components.
In petrochemical and SAF related pathways, Shepherd offers nickel based chemistries that support catalyst supply chains, including Nickel Nitrate Solution, 15% for hydroprocessing catalyst preparation (including hydrodesulfurization) and Nickel Octoate, 8% MS for SAF applications.

About BiLUBE® 8109
Bismuth carboxylates are readily soluble in hydrocarbon solvents, including many lubricant base oils (e.g. Group II/III, PAO). Bismuth carboxylates are also effective extreme-pressure (EP) lubricant additives in greases and oils, providing improved lubricity and anti-wear benefits in moving metal parts (e.g. pistons, gears).

About Nickel Nitrate Solution, 15%
Nickel Nitrate Solution (13% and 15%) is used in the preparation of hydroprocessing catalyst products utilized by the refining industry for the removal of nitrogen (N), oxygen (O), and sulfur (S). While the term hydroprocessing encompasses a number of reactions, nickel nitrate is included specifically in the reaction that focuses on the removal of sulfur, or hydrodesulfurization.

About Zinc Octoate, 22% Zn
Zinc Carboxylates, including Zinc Neodecanoate (Zinc NDA) and BiCAT Z and Zinc Octoate (Zn Oct) and BiCAT 3228 are versatile materials. These water-white to yellow, viscous liquids are useful in a myriad of applications.
