Zinc Chemistries for Personal Care and Fragrance
Zinc compounds are widely used in personal care items such as deodorants, body sprays, and shampoos, and zinc oxide is commonly used as an effective sunscreen ingredient. Shepherd’s zinc portfolio includes zinc carboxylates that can be relevant when you need zinc based functionality in a formulation pathway, including roles tied to odor control chemistries and related applications.
For deodorant and body spray development specifically, zinc carboxylates are noted by Shepherd as effective malodor agents because they can irreversibly react with odor causing molecules like hydrogen sulfide and thiols. For programs that require zinc intermediates for downstream zinc salts or zinc oxide supply chains, Shepherd also offers Technical Grade Zinc Carbonate and highlights its role as an intermediate for other zinc salts and for generating zinc oxide on supports.

About BiCAT® Z
Zinc Carboxylates, including Zinc Neodecanoate (Zinc NDA) and BiCAT Z and Zinc Octoate (Zn Oct) and BiCAT 3228 are versatile materials. These water-white to yellow, viscous liquids are useful in a myriad of applications. Zinc Neodecanoate (Zinc NDA) and Zinc Octoate (Zn Oct) are used as catalysts for organic synthesis and polyurethane production.

About Zinc Octoate, 22% Zn
