Zinc has significant air and water corrosion resistant properties and is used extensively in coatings and plating. Zinc compounds are also widely used in personal care items such as deodorants, body sprays and shampoos—zinc oxide is commonly used as an effective sunscreen. Zinc is a diamagnetic bluish white lustrous and moderately hard metal.
